Delkor’s Vision Inspection Station Boosts Productivity and Reduces Waste
Minneapolis, MN . . . The new Delkor Systems Vision Inspection Station visually scans containers for physical defects at speeds of up to 500 packages per minute. The vision system identifies and removes defective packaging that would negatively affect package integrity or brand image: absent, misaligned or damaged closures and tipped, double-stacked or wrong-sized containers.
The Foresight Station is designed for integration within an end-of-line packaging system, upstream from a secondary packing unit such as a Delkor Spot-Pak® flat tray packing system, where it can inspect finished packages ready for distribution. The equipment activates a non-destructive reject system to divert any questionable package to a sidetrack conveyor where it can be manually inspected and discarded if necessary or returned to the product stream, reducing unnecessary waste.
The proprietary Delkor software at the heart of Foresight compares the visual image of each scanned package to a stored adjustable quality standard profile to verify package acceptability. Up to 1,000 package standards can be stored in the system. Unlike current inspection systems with fixed image standards, Foresight allows operators to access the parameters of the stored profile via a touch screen and adjust the profile parameters to maximize productivity while still controlling acceptable package standards. The first production application of Foresight has been to inspect lid and over cap closures on cultured dairy products in tapered cup containers, checking for missing, cocked or damaged closures.
