Delkor Introduces the Retail Ready Tray Former
MINNEAPOLIS MN - Delkor Systems, innovation leader for end-of-line packaging systems, introduces the the Delkor Retail Ready Tray Former, a significant addition to its line of top load cartoning machines. This advanced Former will be demonstrated by Delkor Systems in exhibits during the International Dairy Show (September 13-15) in Dallas, TX and at Pack Expo International 2010 (October 31 – November 3) in Chicago, IL.
The new Delkor Retail Ready Tray Former erects specialized, die cut trays designed to hold and display tapered cup containers for cultured dairy and other food products. Shelf-ready Display Trays of this type have achieved broad acceptance among retailers because of their ability to reduce shelf stocking time and to display consumer units in the proper orientation for customers to see and select them. Display Trays with cup-holding cutouts are frequently used for multi-cup arrays of yogurt, cottage cheese, hummus, or buttery spreads.
The Delkor Retail Ready Tray Formers fully automate a tray-making sequence that previously had required several different packaging machines to achieve. Now, all steps are accomplished by the Dekor Retail Ready Tray Former within a single, space-saving machine footprint.
Operating at production rates up to 40 trays per minute, the new Delkor Retail Ready Tray former forms Display Trays in a continuous flow, producing precisely formed trays that are properly aligned and oriented for automated product loading. Trays are ejected from the Former with cup cavities pointing upwards, thereby eliminating the need for additional handling in preparation for downstream loading.
Tray dimensions range in size up to 20 inches wide, 12 inches front-to-back, and 2.75 inches deep.
The design of the Delkor Retail Ready Tray Formers reflects Delkor’s commitment to providing reliable and dependable cartoning equipment, as evidenced by the new model’s welded tubular stainless steel frame and spring-loaded forming cavities, and to meeting sanitation requirements within today’s food/dairy production environments, with special features, such as:
- Tool-less removable change parts for easy cleaning
- Sanitary stainless steel ball-end leveling feet to minimize surface contact
- All-stainless steel air cylinders
- Wash-down duty motors and gear boxes with stainless steel hardware
- All mating parts are mounted to welded bosses to minimize surface contact
- A design which minimizes horizontal surfaces.
In addition, the Delkor Retail Ready Former is configured with a lower-level carton blank magazine to make material replenishment safer and easier to accomplish than ever before. An advanced HMI color touchscreen panel from Rockwell Automation Allen-Bradley provides easy navigation through setup, recipe, and data collection screens. English/Spanish language options are available. The operator panel also displays status and alert information from Allen Bradley Redundant Guard switches which are standard on all machine guard doors.
The Delkor Retail Ready Tray Formers share a common software platform with other Delkor packaging machines, such as Top Load Case and Tray Packers, ensuring easy integration within a complete end-of-line system. During the upcoming Fall Trade Shows, Delkors exhibits will feature a Retail Ready Tray Former feeding Display Trays into a Spot-Pak® System. The demonstration line will selectively switch over between the two secondary packaging formats – Display Trays or Spot-Pak Shippers – at the push of a button.
