New Top-load Case Packer for Dairy Products
 
MINNEAPOLIS MN - Delkor Systems, innovation leader for end-of-line packaging systems, introduces the new Flex Loader® Case Packer with design enhancements which optimize the system for use within dairy washdown environments. This new Case Packer will be exhibited for the first time in the Delkor Systems Booth #907 during the International Dairy Show 2010, September 13-15 in the Dallas, TX Convention Center.
 
Delkor’s Flex Loader Case Packer is a gantry-style pick-and-place robot that is typically used within the dairy industry for a broad range of primary product containers in different shapes and sizes – e.g., tapered cups, bottles, sleeved multi-packs, paperboard cartons, and more. The Flex Loader top-loads consumer unit packages into cases for shipping. 
 

To meet different speed and versatility requirements, the Flex Loader can be configured with any of several product infeed options, including timing screws or pneumatic- or servo-controlled lane diverters whose function is to collate multiple product packages into a desired pack pattern for vertical loading into secondary package containers. Again based upon application needs, the Flex Loader can be outfitted with a pneumatic or mechanical gripper head. An available split-head option allows the machine to pick and load two product pack patterns into separate shippers during the same machine cycle, effectively doubling the output of the machine to approximately 30 single-tier shippers per minute. Product changeovers can be accomplished by a trained operator, without tools, in less than fifteen minutes. 

To help preserve package integrity, the new model Flex Loader provides twin magazines for inserting separator pads between product levels within a multi-layered shipping case.

The Flex Loader system can be engineered to accommodate many different shipper styles, including regular slotted cases (RSCs), formed boxes or trays, Retail Ready Display Ready Trays, or dairy cases. Depending upon the shipper of choice, the new Flex Loader can be configured with an integral Case Closer with hot-melt adhesive or an automatic case tape sealer, thereby saving floor space.

Delkor engineers designed the new Flex Loader Case Packer to specifically meet the needs of today’s dairy plant environment, with a robust list of standard features, including:

Welded tubular stainless steel frame
Stainless steel feet with bolt-down holes
Epoxy painted swing-arm mounting for HMI (stainless steel option)
NEMA4 Electrical Enclosure (NEMA 4X option)
Washdown rated motors 
“Safe Off” variable frequency drives and servomotors
Interlocked safety guarding with redundant circuits.

 
Washdown resistance for the Flex Loader Case Packer can be further enhanced by selecting additional hardware options, including:
Stainless steel woven wire guard panels (in lieu of standard Lexan panels) 
Stainless steel pick-and-place gantry robot 
Stainless steel “bullet foot” to minimize surface contact
Sloped-top main electrical panel (no holes on top).
